OLLI Member Meeting Notes

Thank you to everyone who attended yesterday's member meeting to discuss the possibility of new space for OLLI, and to everyone who offered feedback prior to the meeting. Over 40 members attended the 75-minute presentation and discussion. Amee Blake of the WVU Department of Facilities and Scheduling was also in attendance to answer questions.

OLLI director Jascenna Haislet and board president Ed Johnson shared information about OLLI's growing member base at the Morgantown location, the increase in the number of classes with wait lists, and OLLI's need for additional space, as well as the promise of additional funding support from the WVU Office of the Provost.

Ideally, new OLLI space would include a classroom that would seat at least 70 members, a larger computer room, larger member lounge, kitchen, and new office space.

We are currently looking at two spaces in the Mountaineer Mall, the old restaurant space across from our current office and a space between the style salon and the outside entrance at the bottom end of the mall. Ms. Blake is working on a layout of the spaces and estimated budget for renovation. Once this information is available, the OLLI board will discuss and ask for input from our members.

There were a couple of suggestions from attendees about other space available in Morgantown, I will look into them.

If you were unable to attend and would like more information, or have any additional ideas/concerns, please feel free to contact me at jascenna.haislet@hsc.wvu.edu or 304-293-1793.
