Volunteer for OLLI

As a non-profit membership organization, OLLI at WVU depends on the generous support of our volunteers. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our program, helping to defray the costs associated with offering courses, lectures, workshops, trips and more.

Volunteering can enrich your OLLI experience as you meet new people, learn new skills, share your expertise and savor the satisfaction of making a difference in your lifelong learning community. Volunteering has also been shown to reduce stress, enhance happiness, and strengthen the mind and body.

OLLI welcomes volunteers from all walks of life. If you’re interested in volunteering, contact the OLLI office at 304-293-1793 or submit the Volunteer Information Form.

There are many ways you can be involved!

Course Host

Each course needs a Class Host to introduce the instructor and to distribute course materials. If you’re registered for a class and can arrive a few minutes early, it’s an easy way to help.

Find out more about course host duties by choosing either Charleston or Morgantown's Course Host Information tabs.

Office Assistants

We need volunteer members to perform various, vital tasks for the main office. If you have an hour or two a week to lend a hand, let us know.

Events and Special Projects

OLLI routinely has special projects and holds events that require extra staffing. This is a short term commitment and always greatly appreciated.

Committees

Volunteers are always needed to help keep our various committees running.  If you are interested in joining a committee please visit the Committees section of the site.

Reporting Volunteers Hours

Upon completion of your volunteer hours, please take a minute to document your time by visiting the Report Volunteer Hours page.

It is important for OLLI at WVU to keep track of the number of hours our volunteers contribute to the program so that we can report to funders and other stakeholders the extent to which our volunteers are invested in serving our organization.
