Hardesty Festival of Ideas: Equal Pay

The namesake of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act of 2009, Lilly Ledbetter, will discuss gender pay equity as part of the Hardesty Festival of Ideas. The lecture is scheduled for March 10 in the Mountainlair Ballrooms beginning at 7:30 p.m. A book signing will follow.

For 10 years, Ledbetter fought to close the gap between women’s and men’s wages, sparring with the Supreme Court, lobbying Capitol Hill in a historical discrimination case against Goodyear. While she lost the case on appeal, the experience inspired her to become a spokesperson for equal pay.

Tickets are recommended and can be claimed for free through Eventbrite.

Event is co-sponsored by the Center for Women's & Gender Studies, Council for Women's Concerns, Eberly College of Arts & Sciences, Harriet E. Lyon Professorship in Women's & Gender Studies, Leadership Studies Program, and Women's Resource Center.
