May 2020 graduation application due March 6

All students who intend to graduate in Spring/May 2020 are asked to complete their graduation application and complete steps for ETD, if applicable.

The Spring/May 2020 graduation application is available at: registrar.wvu.edu/graduation-diploma. Friday, March 6, 2020 is the graduation application deadline!

Doctoral students are asked to select his/her committee members from a dropdown box. Note: If a committee member is not listed, the student should choose any name (does not matter who) from the list. The application will be changed administratively to reflect the correct committee when the application is approved. (For added assurance, please notify Joe Andria of any corrections that need made to the list of your committee members.)

Students who wish to pick up their diploma need to enter the Registrar’s address on the application:

Diplomas will be mailed in the weeks following degree conferral (May 17th - official May conferral date). Students who have no financial holds on their accounts will receive email notification to their MIX account when their diploma has shipped. Tracking numbers will not be available. If a diploma is being mailed to an address outside of the United States, it may take an additional 4-6 weeks for delivery.

Graduate students who need to submit their ETD (Electronic Thesis and Dissertation) should be aware that the submission deadline is 5pm, Friday, May 1, 2020: etd.lib.wvu.edu. ETD info packet: etd.lib.wvu.edu/formatting-etds.

• Students are required to successfully defend their thesis or dissertation before submitting to the university library.
• If your degree program requires submission of an Electronic Thesis or Dissertation, you must submit by the deadline to be approved for May 2020 graduation/degree conferral.
• Students who miss the deadline must reapply for August 2020.

May Commencement Exercises:

• May Commencement exercises will be held May 15-17. Those who would like to participate must register to walk. (This registration is separate from the graduation application.)
• Students should monitor their MIX email account and HSC websites for registration information and instruction.
• Students who have successfully defended but are still awaiting ETD submission and/or acceptance are still eligible to walk.
• May commencement exercises are also open to students with August 2019 and December 2019 degree conferral dates.

IMPORTANT Note for Previous Graduation Applicants:

Students must apply during the term they intend to graduate. Those who have applied for previous graduation cycles (e.g., August 2019, December 2019, etc.) must reapply and resubmit the online graduation application for May 2020. Previous graduation applications are no longer valid.

Reminder:

“Shuttle Sheet Request” forms are due two weeks prior to the scheduled defense of a thesis, dissertation or capstone presentation. For non-thesis MS students, please submit as soon as possible.
