Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Faith in Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley, a local non-profit that helps seniors sustain their independence and remain in their homes, is seeking volunteers. Their motto is “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”. The beauty of volunteering with Faith is Action is the flexibility with the amount of time you have available. Whether you have one hour a week or two hours a month, you are needed. Volunteers select assignments that fit their schedules and interests that are posted every Monday. Most of the requests involve transporting people to their medical appointments, pharmacy, grocery store or other errands. Volunteers can also make calls to shut-ins or visit their homes. Many just need dropped off at their appointments & then picked up when their finished. They are planning a few “honey do” projects later this month and next where they’ll do some light work.

All Faith in Action Volunteers are required to attend one orientation session prior to serving. First Presbyterian Church, 16 Leon Sullivan Way, Charleston, is hosting a session Thursday, October 19, from 6:00 7:30 p.m. Visit http://www.faithinactiongkv.com/ for more information.
