From the Director - February 2, 2018 (Charleston)

Well, I just heard that Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. Six more weeks of winter? I don't know about you, but the older I get, the more I'm ready for spring to arrive January 2. Done with winter before it really even begins. But I guess all we can do is stay warm and be safe!

In light of cancelled classes today in Morgantown, I want to remind OLLI members in the Charleston area that when Kanawha County schools are closed, OLLI classes are cancelled for day. You can see school closing information on TV but I like to use the website https://wvde.state.wv.us/closings/county/kanawha. Fast and easy. We will do our best to reschedule missed classes and will let you know as soon as that information is available.

On a brighter note, the OLLI Charleston committee will be meeting shortly to review course proposals for the spring term. Course catalogs should be available in early March. Spring registration begins March 19.

We also have new travel opportunities available for OLLI members. We have reserved space on two Collette Vacations in the coming months: Exploring Greece and Its Islands in early October and Iceland's Magical Northern Lights in late January next year. We are also investigating the possibility of offering a trip to Tuscany in February of next year as well. More information about these trips and an upcoming trip to Quebec with Heritage Adventures can be found on our website at http://www.olliatwvu.org/for-members/travel-with-olli/
