Final Film Forum for Fall - November 17

A Quiet Passion - Our final film for the fall is a story about one of America's most beloved and misunderstood poets, Emily Dickinson. Cynthia Nixon (Sex and the City) plays Emily in a critically acclaimed performance, backed by Jennifer Ehle and Keith Carradine as Emily's stern father. This is one of those quiet films that use intimate detail and subtlety to reveal the life of a well-beloved poet that had very little success and barely any recognition in her life. We watch how Emily transcends, through her poetry, the religious, social and moral currents of her time. Written and directed by Terence Davies, a mainstay of fans of Masterpiece Theatre on PBS. 126 min.
