40th Anniversary Concert - An Evening of Old-Time Music

Friday, February 16, 7:00 p.m., Metropolitan Theater

This concert of traditional old-time music is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Gardner Winter Music Festival and Morgantown Friends of Old Time Music and Dance. The concert is being held on Friday, February 16 at 7:00 pm at the Metropolitan Theater in Morgantown. The concert will feature two bands - Critton Hollow String Band and The Hillbilly Gypsies.

Since 1975, the Critton Hollow String Band has brought traditional American music to audiences throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Ireland, and Scotland. With fiddle, hammer dulcimer, banjo, and guitar, the band tends a stable of songs from the first settlements of Appalachia to the best of contemporary American folk music.

Hailing from the beautiful Mountain State of West Virginia and based here in Morgantown, The Hillbilly Gypsies have been making and performing their own brand of old time bluegrass and mountain music for well over a decade! Formed in 2001 from a chance meeting at the now infamous Wednesday night old time jam in Morgantown; The Hillbilly Gypsies have been pickin' n’ grinnin' and entertaining their loyal fans ever since.

Advance tickets are $10 and are available at Fawley's Music and Terra Cafe, online at EventBrite, and from Judy Werner (gwmf@frontier.org). Tickets at the door are $15 (cash only).
